The Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group has more skills, know-how, expertise and experience in equipping and renovating railroad tunnels than almost any other company in Europe and worldwide. The service catalog and reference list of the Austrian-Swiss full-service provider of railroad technology in this field are correspondingly full. Reason enough for us to declare the 2025/26 financial year the “Year of RSRG tunnel expertise”.

Without railway tunnels, the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group might not exist in its current form at all: During the outfitting of the Lötschberg Tunnel starting in 2002, Rhomberg Bahntechnik and Sersa AG worked together for the first time. To meet the comprehensive requirements of constructing new railway tunnels or rehabilitating existing ones, extensive know-how, years of experience – and the right tools – are essential! The Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group possesses all of these like hardly any other railway technology company in Europe or worldwide! Don’t believe it? Here’s the proof:
(for both the construction process and the completed project))
Introduction: To manage the anticipated influx of visitors to the 2001 Alpine Ski World Championships in St. Anton am Arlberg, the Arlberg railway line was upgraded in advance between St. Jakob and St. Anton, and the St. Anton railway station was relocated. The experts of what is now the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group played a key role in all the necessary tunnel works – from the construction of the Wolfsgruben and Blisadona tunnels to the rehabilitation of the Arlberg Tunnel itself!
Repdigit: Austria has a total of 444 railway tunnels. Switzerland has 696, and Germany even 1,079.
