In Kaiserstraße, an underground tram tunnel was constructed with a southern branch extending from Marktplatz to Augartenstraße, including modern underground stops designed to allow fast and safe travel through the city from 2021 onwards. In Kriegsstraße, a green tram route was created above ground between bike paths and tree-lined avenues, while through-traffic was relocated underground into a road tunnel from Karlstor to Ludwig-Erhard-Allee.
The newly built tram tunnels were equipped with a total of 5,760 linear meters of illuminated handrail for tunnel safety lighting. At the underground stations, additional joint lighting was planned, supplied, and installed for orientation purposes. To enhance the visual appearance, custom decorative profiles were used to finish the joints.
