General contractor rail track and systems

The contract included the construction of almost 118 kilometers of Slab Track in the Rheda 2000 system, approx. 60 kilometers of which in a total of 11 tunnels (including 4 long tunnels > 1 km) and approx. 60 km of which on "open track" on earthworks and on a total of 17 bridges, including the 485-meter-long „Filstal“-Bridge, as well as the construction of 24 switches and crossings, and approx. 1.8 km of ballasted track including transitions between Slab Track and ballasted track.

In addition, the consortium was responsible for the mechanical equipment of the tunnels (ventilation systems, doors, raised floors, signage, etc.), the entire 50 Hz supply (medium and low voltage including tunnel safety lighting with approx. 60 km of LED handrails and points heating, etc.), the telecommunications equipment (copper and fiber optic cable systems, connection to „DB MAS“ (reporting and alarm system), BOS radio (public authority radio) (digital and analog), hot axle box detection systems, tunnel emergency call systems, fire alarm and burglar alarm systems, etc.), the construction of two substations and two switching stations for the traction power supply as well as the entire coordinated cable pulling planning and execution.

The contractor was responsible for the planning of the overall system and, after the planning phase, also for the overall coordination including the coordination of the signal and overhead line installation as well as the entire project logistics and construction site safety during the construction phase.
