The GZU JV ­ which is built­up of Rhomberg Bahntechnik and Strabag ­ got awarded for the construction works of approx. 2.8km of double­tracked HST line as part of the all­new freight line between Vienna and Salzburg.

The slab track is made of pre­fabricated 5.20m long sections of the OeBB­Porr­type, which in itself is classified as light spring­mass ­system.

Part of the project was also the installation of 2 high­speedturnouts with a 2.600m radius laid in concrete as well as the emergency water supply line along the Bruendlkapellentunnel, installation of the concrete walkways either side of the track and the installation of cable ducts.
