Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG is an energy producer transporting lignite from 4 open-cast mines via its own rail network to 3 power plants for electricity generation. The area for which Rhomberg Sersa Deutschland was responsible covers 30 x 40 km and includes around 240 km of track, 325 turnouts, and 46 level crossings. The entire rail network is inspected at least twice a year by specialists, with deficiencies documented and priorities determined. These are reviewed again together with the client in dedicated site inspections, and measures for implementation are agreed. In addition, a 24-hour on-call service was provided to respond to potential incidents.
