Installation of a High-Speed Turnout – Turnout Renewal VISP

Einbauen einer Schnellfahrweiche - Weichenumbau VISP

Sophisticated machinery, optimized site planning, and the use of synergies: Rhomberg Sersa’s concept for complete turnout renewal is based on the modular integration of all services in the turnout sector. In a building-block principle, all work processes interlock seamlessly and build upon each other.

Weichenumbau VISP

Due to the extraordinary dimensions of the high-speed turnout, it had to be pre-assembled near the actual installation site. The pre-assembly of the high-speed turnout was carried out by Hansruedi Gehrig and his team.

For the excavation works, machines such as W1+, Reiner1+, and AVES+ were deployed. The excavated ballast was loaded onto empty SBB ballast wagons, and the newly installed turnout was subsequently ballasted with the reclaimed material. The high-speed turnout was installed using a special system with auxiliary tracks and two rail cranes in tandem operation.

Special features

The installation of the high-speed turnout had to be completed during a weekend closure in multi-shift operation, in close interdisciplinary collaboration within the companies of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group.
