About the project
As part of the “Rail Access Implementation 2023 (BZU23)” program, Littau station was upgraded to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (BehiG). Access was redesigned to be barrier-free, the infrastructure modernised, and safety systems brought up to the latest standards.
Special Features
The construction works were carried out largely under ongoing rail operations. Night-time and weekend closures were nevertheless scheduled to ensure efficient and safe execution. Additional challenges included working in groundwater protection zones and contaminated sites, confined conditions in the track area, and high requirements regarding environmental, noise and water protection.
